Editorial policy

Government primary sources come first for official facts. Named forecasts appear only with an organization, value or range, publication date, and source. Repeated news coverage of a forecast does not make it official.

Official requires a verified SSA, BLS, or CMS source. Projected requires a named organization, value or range, and publication date. Pending means unreleased or unverified. Estimated result is calculator output.

Projections are never promoted to official. We do not invent a house forecast. Midpoints of published forecasts are labeled as illustrative midpoints.

Stale time-sensitive data is updated or clearly dated. COLA Benefit never calls itself official. Government seals, eagles, and SSA.gov lookalikes are not used.
